IL DOLCE FAR NIENTE

Tuscany edition

In the heart of Tuscany, a retreat to pause between summer and autumn, savour the moment, and embrace a slower rhythm of life.

I will bring you to my beautiful country in the heart of Tuscany, also known as being “the essence of Italy”, for a nourishing and grounding yoga retreat.

September always feels like a new beginning. It’s a transitional moment where, from the fire of summer, we slowly shift into a more grounding energy. Yet in our busy lives, we often forget this passage — rushing ahead into new resolutions and to-do lists. This retreat is an invitation to pause before starting again, to root deeply, and to appreciate what has already unfolded.

In this season, Tuscany feels magical. The hills roll in waves of green and gold, dotted with cypress and olive trees, vineyards heavy with grapes. The light of September softens everything, slowing time itself. Here, between summer’s brightness and autumn’s embrace, you’ll be guided to savour the moment and reconnect with a slower, sweeter rhythm of life.

And we will do it in the Italian way: surrounded by nature to explore with beautiful walks, sharing meals of delicious local food, basking in the late-summer sun by the pool or natural bio-lake. Through yoga, breath, and mindful stillness, we will align with the rhythm of the season, finding balance and clarity before stepping into what’s next.

OUR HOME

A small hamlet nestled in the lush and authentic greenery of Tuscany, Le Pianore (click here to see the venue) is a hidden gem — an ecosystem of beauty, nature, and hospitality. Family-owned and deeply rooted in the land, it lives in constant dialogue with the earth, with everything it offers moving in harmony with nature’s rhythm.

Their motto captures this spirit perfectly: “to cherish the land, celebrate its fruits, and share them with those who know how to appreciate their truth.” True to this, they produce organic wine from their vineyards and cultivate fruits and vegetables in their gardens, bringing everything from soil to table with care and respect. As a CCPB-certified organic farm, Le Pianore follows the principles of sustainable agriculture — every product, from the vineyard to the vegetable garden, follows the natural rhythm of the earth.

During your stay, you’ll taste these gifts of the land while also enjoying moments of pure relaxation: a dip in the pool, or even better, a wild swim in the bio-lake — a completely natural swimming pool that offers a unique, restorative experience in harmony with nature. For deeper nourishment, relaxing massages are offered in a beautiful, dedicated yurt.

Le Pianore offers a variety of accommodations, from single to quadruple rooms, spread across a traditional Tuscan villa, a cosy cottage (converted from an historical barn), and an eco-sustainable straw house. Each building is made with natural materials like wood, stone and straw, and is offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, along with welcoming indoor and outdoor common spaces. This tranquil retreat space lies in one of the most authentic, untouched corners of Tuscany — far from mass tourism, where life still flows at a slower, more genuine pace. Here, you are invited to step away from the rush of daily life and reconnect with simplicity, savouring life’s truest pleasures amidst nature’s beauty and the warmth of local hospitality.

OUR YOGA

Enjoy two daily yoga sessions, thoughtfully curated to leave you feeling deeply nourished and restored, rather than drained. Framed by the peaceful beauty of nature, our dynamic morning practice will energize and awaken you with invigorating flows designed to strengthen and challenge both body and mind. As the day winds down, surrender into a soothing, Yin and meditation evening practice, helping you to soften and release.

You’ll also have the chance to deepen your practice with a dedicated Workshop, where we will explore a specific theme and delve into a focused group of postures.

OUR FOOD

At this retreat, food is not just a meal — it’s an experience, a true immersion into the heart of Italian culture. As an Italian, food has always been a cornerstone of my life, and I cannot wait to share that passion with you. Each day, you’ll enjoy three delicious meals prepared by our in-house chef, using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.

At Le Pianore, hospitality begins with the earth. Every day they harvest what nature offers and transform it into fresh, creative, and nourishing dishes. Much of what you’ll taste comes directly from their organic garden, where each season brings its own abundance of colours, flavours, and surprises. From garden to table, their philosophy is to honour the land and celebrate its gifts with simplicity and authenticity.

Get ready to indulge in wholesome meals that not only nourish your body, but also elevate your retreat experience. In Italy, food brings people together, and our meals will be a time to relax, enjoy delicious dishes, and create lasting friendships over conversation and shared moments.

OUR ACTIVITIES

In this retreat, you’re invited to embrace the art of “dolce far niente”: the sweetness of doing nothing. If lounging by the pool or swimming in the bio-lake is your idea of bliss, that alone is enough.

For those who wish to explore, the surroundings offer walks through woods, streams, and century-old trees. Just above the venue lies Monticello, an authentic medieval village perched on a hilltop, about 40 minutes away on foot through a beautiful woodland path. From its cobbled streets, you’ll enjoy sweeping panoramic views over Tuscany’s rolling hills.

You’ll also have the chance to experience Forest Bathing: a slow, mindful walk through the woods of Mount Amiata, guided by breath and presence. This practice allows deep connection with the earth — listening to the living silence, feeling each step as a return to self, and allowing nature’s quiet beauty to restore balance in a world that often moves too fast.

For food lovers, there’s the joy of a hands-on cooking class with Enrica, co-owner of Le Pianore. With her warmth and guidance, you’ll discover the art of Italian cooking as it has been passed down for generations — simple, alive, and made with love. Together you’ll prepare a seasonal menu in the country kitchen and then share the fruits of your labor around the table, tasting the flavors of home.

Wine enthusiasts will delight in a guided wine tasting with Filippo, whose organic wines are a pure expression of this land. More than a tasting, this experience is a journey of stories, sensations, and connection with Tuscany’s landscape and philosophy.

And of course, there will be time to unwind fully with relaxing massages in our dedicated wellness yurt.
